The Old Acorn Barn
Meaningful daytime occupation opportunities…
Since April 2014, the Life Project has been running sessions for young adults with learning disabilities (and some not so young) in this beautiful rural location. At present 7 young people, called ‘makers’ join us at the barn each day and are able to choose from a number of different activities on offer. These activities may include helping to produce wire plant supports for the garden, which we sell, working on our allotment in Oldfield Park, preparing lunch (often using produce we have grown) or creating other mouth-watering delights in our kitchen.
We have a lovely art and craft room where there are always a number of projects on the go, and life skills are learnt through washing up or laundering clothes, which are then passed to Genesis Trust for people in need. We enjoy regular drama sessions and each day includes a group discussion. At present we operate for just 2 days a week but plan to expand in the future.
