Volunteer Opportunities: Gardeners & Drivers

Wanted: Gardeners & Drivers

We have an amazing team of volunteers who give their time in many different ways to support our projects and our wonderful Makers. We now are looking to grow our team of Volunteers with some new roles…

Do you have a few hours you could give regularly – perhaps weekly, fortnightly, or monthly? We have an allotment that produces some fantastic crops and flowers each year and we need a few extra pairs of hands to help us keep on top of everything that needs to be done. Whether you are a dap hand with a shovel, love nothing more than planting seeds and supporting them to grow into strong plants, find pleasure in weeding, or enjoy a spot of watering, we have a role for you. We are always amazed at how much produce we are blessed with from the allotment and our plot if expanding so we need your support.

If you would like to find out more please do get in touch and we can arrange for you to speak with someone from the team to give you a better idea of what would be involved and how much of a commitment it would be. Of course the more volunteers the lighter the work, so every little you can offer we will be most grateful for.

Drivers: Currently some of our staff help our Maker to get to/from the Barn for Sessions. This has been positive in building relationships and ensuring people get to where they need to be safely. However, it also means that staff do not have the time they need prior to sessions for adequate preparation time. We are therefore looking for some kindly volunteers to help out by offering lifts to our Makers in the morning to the Barn (Englishcombe) or the Allotment (Monksdale Road) and then home again in the afternoon. Our sessions currently take place Tues, Wed, Thurs from 9:30am to 2:30pm. The Life Project would pay for your mileage and any changes required to your insurance, plus we would match our volunteers with Makers and carry out a comprehensive risk assessment. If you have 30 t0 45 minutes one or two mornings per weeks and/or time in the afternoon we would love to hear from you and add you to our team. Please do get in touch.
